The Ecomuseum dell'Alabastro located in the Province of Pisa in an area consists mainly by the municipalities of Castellina Marittima, Santa Light and Volterra. In particular the towns of Castellina and Santa Light in the past have been characterized by the presence of quarries along the river Marmolaio, creating a natural boundary between them. These deposits of this stone, were also present in the Riparbella, Montecatini Val di Cecina and Volterra. The structure dell'Ecomuseo arises to deal with the study, conservation, to the use and presentation of memory and of alabastrifera that has characterised the area.
